A Holistic Approach
to Youth Mental Health

The Korczak Lab is dedicated to research on child and adolescent mental health. Directed by Dr. Daphne J. Korczak, a Canadian leader in child and adolescent psychiatry, our lab covers a wide range of topics including child and adolescent depression, suicide intervention for youth presenting to the emergency department, the impact of COVID-19 on mental health, and the relationship between mood and cardiovascular risk. Our research lab aims to contribute more broadly to SickKids's initiative to enhance child and youth mental health research through collaborations, innovations and partnerships.

CLIMB: Healthy Volunteer Study

We are doing a study looking at the relationship between depression and cardiovascular risk. In order to do this study, we need information from healthy youth to compare to information gathered from depressed youth.

This research study involves:
  1. Completing an interview and self-report.
  2. We ask about medical health, psychological symptoms, stress, sleep, and other related topics.
  3. Fasting blood work (from adolescent only).
  4. A scan that measures the stiffness of the arteries called Pulse Wave Velocity. This is a scan that does not hurt and takes less than 30 mins to complete.
  5. Research tasks may take up to 5 hours to complete.

Participants will recieve compensation and community service hours.
